Third Annual Holiday Giving Tree
“A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when we expect nothing in return.” – Bhagavad Gita
“How can one person make a difference…” is a statement that has been said throughout many lifetimes. That statement changes once you can give to someone selflessly and without reciprocation. Knowing that a small gesture has made someone’s day or even life brighter, even for a moment, is worth a lot more than receiving something in return, gaining recognition, or sometimes even a “thank you”.
You and I have the opportunity to do this for someone, to provide a basic life need to another who may not have the means to receive this on their own.
Take a moment and think about how you would feel if you had nowhere to go, no resources or means to provide the basics to yourself or your family. Now think about how great it would feel to receive a care package with packs of socks, underwear, sweats, and assorted toiletries. What some take for granted, is someone else’s gold.
This year’s outreach will help the individuals and families of McAuley Ministries, which is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and has three outreach programs: McAuley House, McAuley Village, and The Warde-robe. Take a moment to read about how it all got started with one person who wanted to help another…
You are one person, and you can make a difference.
